The first great capital — its dagobas, monastery ruins and the sacred bo-tree, explored by bicycle at dawn.
- Day 4
Mihintale & Polonnaruwa
The cradle of Sri Lankan Buddhism, then on to the second capital with a private archaeologist.
- Days 5–6
Sigiriya & Dambulla
A dawn climb of the rock fortress and the golden cave temples, with time among the water gardens.
- Days 7–9
Kandy
The last royal capital — the Temple of the Tooth, ola-leaf manuscripts, craft villages and the lake.
- Days 10–12
Kandy to Colombo
A slow descent with a tea estate en route, finishing with a curated day in the capital.
